Went down on Wed 10/10/07 to pick a cockpit for simulator installation and we decided the HS 748 was best. I never expected to be washing a centurion tank but that's another story.
The new Devonshire Road premesis is absolutely ideal for museum. It is full of aircraft (inside and out that require re-assembling. Glynn is now looking for more volunteers to assemble the biggest Airfix kits a big kid could ask for!
I was amazed when he showed me a zero timed brand new Bristol Hercules radial engine!
Ready for assembly are, Jetstream, Shorts 330 (fuselage in transit), Meteor, Vampire, Percival Prince, Hs 748 needs made secure for installation of simulator equipment. 2 PC's have been donated and are now ready for installation.
I recommend a visit to all forum members, truly something for everyone there. Prepare to be amazed!
p.s. Required for restoration work is plywood of various thicknesses and sheet aluminium any condition. I can collect.

Hello there
Just wondering which '748 is at the Millom museum. My interest is that i was a Captain with Emerald up to there demise in 2006 and was wondering if i have flown it? I am now quite local over at Walney and i would love to come and have a look at the old girl. My Avro connections go back a long way as i was an engineer at Woodford in the dim and distant.
What sort of state is she in?
Cheers

She's in need of a bit of TLC Shaun but she will certainly fly again in the virtual sense! She came from th breakers at Blackpool airport and they have done some pretty unnecessary damage. It is only the forward fuselage section. I think Glynn will know her reg. if you phone him on 01229 777444 (it is diverted to his mobile if nobody in museum answers).
If you send me your email I will send you some pics. I tried to upload them to my post but struggled. (any ideas Chris? .....aside from me being a thicko!!)

Hello Niall
Just resent the original e-mail.
If it is G-ATMI, then i did fly it as Captain.
10-04-99 JEM 351 EGGP to EGNS 19-04-99 JEM 916 EGAA to EGGP 24-04-99 JEM 361 EGGP to EGGP 24-04-99 JEM 362 EGNS to EGGP
Believe it went to Blackpool in the autumn of 1999 for spares recovery.
Your pictures show a sorry sight, poor old girl.
Are you going to restore the cockpit to its original for you flight sim?
The Avro 748 were a fine aeroplane, bit underpowered when the temperature got above ISA and the load got near MTOW but they looked after me for a few years. Really hope you make something of the old girl.
Cheers
Shaun
