It has been a little while since I posted but I do 'lurk' around the site to see what's going on.
I have a bunch of questions for local forumites as to what will be going on aviation wise during July. I will be vacationing in the UK from 6th to30th July. The first week will take in a pilgrimage to 'Flying Legends' at Duxford and then a few days in Kent following 'The Battle of Britain Trail' which, by the way, is an awesome audio guide produced by Folkstone and Shepway District Council. My 11 year old put in a 'special request' to see the 11Group Control room at Uxbridge which has been arranged for the 11th.
ETA in Cumbria is July 12th and I will be staying with family in Dalton/Ulverston. I am really disappointed that the Walney air show was canceled. The 2005 event was brilliant. I am tempted to visit Kirkbride on 22nd July. What time do things kick-off'? Chris, your postings on various web-sites is all the info. I can find! Any other details would be appreciated. The appearance of the 'Red Arrows' at Windermere is an impressive show, especially if the weather allows them to do their full/high show.
What I really want to know is if there are any NOTAMS for July and if I will be in the area at the time the Indian Su-27s will be, potentially, booting around The Lakes or The Yorkshire Dales. On one or two trips back to the UK while hiking around the 'Three Peaks' area in 'The Dales' I have been lucky enough to see plenty of military activity including very low and slow 'Apaches' doing their thing. Very impressive!
Any news what may be appearing at Breighton the weekend of 14-15th July. I may be tempted over on the 15th, weather and hangover permitting (it's my mum's 70th b'day bash on the 14th!!)?
Thanks in advance. Great site Chris. Keep up the excellent effort!
Cheers,
Mutant.
