With a couple of hours to kill this morning, I spent them across in the Lakes and bagged a pair of Harriers for my trouble. The weather was slightly better than the start of the week! They both came through about 1025 or so. I saw a Tucano climbing out above Green How at 0825 as I drove down Thirlmere, and there were two unknown movements as I was in Keswick town centre at lunchtime. Graeme

Nice stuff in the conditions, looks a bit on the bleak side, the weather this end hasn't been too good all day with drizzle on and off for the most part and a low cloudbase.

Gary/Chris - thanks for the kind comments. Well, with four days off it was either cool my jets off at home staring at the walls or get some exercise out on the hills (actually, Wednesday was spent in the Metrocentre! Bought some new boots so had to try them out today). The weather hasn't been kind all week, and those photos from today are actually lightened a little, which gives you an idea of how dark it was. I think the sun appeared briefly for about two minutes this morning - either it was drizzle, light rain or overcast. Clearly I'm mad for being out in such conditions, but it's a good kind of mad.... Graeme, you are not mad, we are all mad!! when it come's to getting out in the hill's for some spotting. Hope the boot's did'nt give you much jip climbing up Thirlmere today. The pictures are pretty good apart from the condition's that you endured, and spotting as you know is a painstaking business. Where about's in Cumbria are you from then?

I'm not from Cumbria, just seem to be seeking asylum there! ;D I do have relatives in Alston so there is some sort of connection.
(I live in Newcastle - exactly 100 miles away from either Dunmail Raise or the Selkirk-Moffat Valley so nicely placed for either.)
Incidentally, the boots were fine - just like a pair of slippers. Even bought a cheap pair of gaiters in Keswick yesterday as the way the weather is, I think I'm going to need them!
