Hi guys
Just back from a busy week and an half travelling about.I've just picked a few random pics out to show for now-probably better than waiting the 3 months until I actually get around to post processing all the pictures. No doubt I'll find better pics when I do the post processing properly but here goes.
Monday 12th March
An early start for the 120 miles drive down to Leeming. Not a bad day with plenty of Hawk action but only one F3 up(another 2 went tec ).Also had the pleasure of a Chinook dropping in and out.
Left at about 5pm for the drive down to Lincoln. This was to be my base for the next 3 nights.
Tuesday 13th
Up at 5am for the drive down to Lakenheath.Bugger all moved before 10am and I was starting to get a bit worried. When things did eventually start to happen it was pretty constant all day.I never kept count but there musthave been at least 50 launches during the day.I also had the luck of having 2 German Tor's dropping in and a couple of other visitors. From a fully fledged member of the eagle appreciation society-an awesome day.
I even managed to miss another handful of launches after i'd set off on the drive back to Lincoln.
Wednesday14th
A bit of a later start with Coningsby being the next location.Another excellent day with all 4 Typhoon squadrons up and about. Also had the QRA F3 machine changeover and a visiting King Air and Dominie.
I left Coningsby at 2pm for the long drag over to Cottesmore.I though i'd try and pack in as much variety as possible.Quite a bit of activity at Cottesmore but the light was pretty poor.
Thursday 15th
Time to head back home but spent the day at Leeming on the way.Another decent day with plenty of Hawk and some F3 action. The lighting was pretty poor througout the day though.
That was the end of a very enjoyable 4 day trip.Over 900 miles covered and 5700 photos taken.
I was only back at home for a day and then had to head back down country to York for a 4 day break with the family.I didn't manage another day at Leeming but stopped there for a cuppa on the way home yesterday(the wifes face told me that 30 mins was as good as it was going to get).Unfortunatly I missed the arrival of the Dutch helicopters by 5 minutes.Never mind
I did manage a couple of hours at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington while I was down there.A nice collection of aircraft that is unfortunatly spoiled by the lack of room. They are packed in like sardines in the main viewing hanger.
One final pic to show how cramped the hanger is.A real shame because there are some very nice aircraft hidden away in there. You can only walk around the outside and some aircraft are virtually invisible(Lightning springs to mind).
Cheers
Gary
