Missed the Aurora season at Iceland by a month when I went this year, so hopefully headed back around feb next year to catch them. Shame because they looked amazing on some professional pics over the the Eyjafjallajokull outlet crater.

I went on a flight to see the northern lights about 10 years ago the plane flew upto Iceland the pilot got permission to switch all the lights off and allowed to go to 48000ft after a couple of minutes when we got used to the dark we looked out into space and it was totally amazing being able to make out Galaxys unaided and we were Lucky that we saw a long band of green aurora all across the sky line
so its one of those 'got to do' things for me to see them stood on the ground in the arctic circle somewhere
