Taking place on the 26th July is the North Wests largest fly-in, usually attracts quite a few gems and gets the odd fly-by or two from special guests!

Folks just been to have a chat with John about this year's event. In an effort to avoid some issues that arose last year we need to ramp up the safety side - not in itself an issue. To that end we do need some signs made for various locations. I can supply the frames, materials and wording, but is any one of you in a position to do some painting and sign writing? These would be a permanent signs to be used in future years so will need to be to a specific design.

Yes I think Ive already mentioned it to John. But just incase the main potential danger point seemed to be the taxyway to the parking area. Its good to get joe public up close and personal to the aircraft but not when the prop in spinning. No names but my heart was in my mouth watching a Gyroplane taxy past the spectators with prop/rotors in motion .The cadets were doing a sterling job to start with, but struggled when things got busy.

Hi guys, I might salso be getting a Sea King from "Gannet" subject to work load. All being well we get to keep them for 2/3 hours with a couple of fly-byes on arrival. Yes we do have to be very careful this year re the safety aspect so things are taking a lot longer to sort out. I am sure you all know the dangers with a/c and free range people so please feel free to warn people (tactfully) The taxi way on to the runway will be roped off to all except the marshallers, please bear with us on this, ie bring your longer lenses!!! Thanks J.P.

Though the safety proceedures are still under discussion/development, the marshallers this year will be a group I have worked with for a number of years who are well experienced in crowd situations.
As John says there will be a restriction around the runway exit.
Also we will not be allowing anything under power to taxi without marshals in attendance and picking up on Barshifter's point any gyro's rotors stationary before entering the "public" area (particularly in light of the recent event further south).

Hopefully there will also be 2 x Jet Provosts present on the day, the local Carlisle based example and Neil McCarthy's Newcastle based JP. Also regular visitor Andy Wilson has a new smoke equipped YAK-50 that should be present all being well.

Received a text from JP asking for help chaps... Much to his surprise they have been awarded a Search and Rescue demo, now unfortunately funds are now rather low having been spent on the BBMF so John was wondering if a few of us would 'chip in' to help get it, not sure how much they need to raise but i'll happily throw a tenner into the pot, over to you guys......

Hi Guys, any help with the slush fund would be most welcome for the Sea King would be most welcome. I am sorry I do not have a pay pal account but if Chris will not mind I will leave it to him.I need the money at least by the end of May as I am doing the paper work now and believe me there is lots of it. It has all the makings of a good day weather allowing. hopefully Andy will have his display authorisation by then so the Yak 50 will be turning and burning for you as well.It does make a lovely noise!! Be good 'till then,,Dakotasix

A breif update, today we just missed out on getting a Mustang 'Jumpin Jacques' at KB, Peter Teichman was 'up for it' however we then found out that Windermere have only booked him for the Saturday, so we just missed out there. Also the RAF S&R Demo will not be present. The funds had been found and the cheques cashed but then they found out they had too many events booked to attend so we miss out (boo hiss) pretty bad form from the RAF! Onto some good news, it seems hopefull that there will be a Pitts Special display all being well, G-BYIP based at Perth and flown by Dai Heather Hayes. There are more additions too, Simon Johnstone plans to bring both his aircraft over, the Isaacs Fury and the Sokol Kraguj. A Harvard from Liverpool area will also be in attendance and fingers crossed a bare metal Navion (recently seen in Pilot mag) will be up for the day.

Message from John aka Dakotasix.......
Hi guys, finally getting some sort of running order for the "Fly-in" AT kIRKBRIDE. BBMF will kick off at 13:30 local, then a pitts will diplay followed by the JP3 from Newcastle.Andy Wilson will be doing some missed approaches/bad weather circuits and maybe the Fury/kraguj duo will be doing something. This year we have had to do things correctly and I have applied to Gatwick for a Form 80 which we need for legally holding a public event. This has cost me a further £180 for three a/c displays,(BBMF count as one). All general public will be kept away from a/c whilst taxying for arrival and departure but during the closed display times 13:30 to 14:45 they are free to move about amongst them.Sorry but is the way it has to be. As this will probably be my last event let us make it the best yet.Personnal circumstances have had to make me re think as I have to have a tripple by-pass op which will keep me quiet for a while!! This has come as a bit of a shock so may I take this time to thank you all for your support and help. I hope to return a better and fitter person so don't write me off just yet!! Take care chaps and give me a nudge at the fly-in, Dakotasix.

Met with Dakotasix today and everything is going more or less to plan
There may be another special guest fly-by that will be very special.
As he says there will be some restrictions on access particulary to the runway exit and a holding area. As the display aircraft will be parked in ths area we have agreed to issue two passes to photographers. Please contact me direct if you want one (first come first served)
Similarly a large part of the car-park by the White Heather will be barriered off & closed to cars, parking will be on the disused runway by the entrance.
