Just wondering if anyone on here has used one and will it work ok with the 1.4 x TC. The 100-400 is out of reach so looking at a cheaper alternative.

Hi Chris No tcon will work on a F5.6 lens on a non 1 series Canon body.40D,400D etc will only auto focus upto f5.6.When you add a tcon onto a F5.6 lens it effectively becomes an F8 lens. You can always manual focus though. Have you thought about the 300 F4.A lot better image quality(and reliability) than the 100-400 and you can also add the tcon and have a 420 F5.6 with auto focus. Check out www.fredmiranda.comIt's got the best reviews section for lenses and cameras on the net.You will find everything that you need to know on there about all the Canon compatible lenses. It's definitely worth saving a bit longer and going for L glass.Be warned though-once you have one piece of L glass you won't ever want to use the cheaper stuff again. Do you a good deal on a Sigma 300 F2.8 Cheers Gary

I was just making plans for next years airshow season and wanting to increase my number of keepers, especially when shooting at lower speeds.
