Can anyone name some good cameras which are not over £500, and will get me decent aviation pictures... Looking soon to buy a new one and need a few pointers....

I use a Canon EOS 400D which you can pick up for about £400 on e-bay and comes with the 18-55mm lens. Then you need a bigger lens. I use a Canon 75-300mm USM MKIII lens which you can get for about £120. Dont forget memory cards you will need a few of those. i find the smallest useful ones are 512mb anything smaller is a waste of time imo.

I picked up a canon 400d on the canon outlet shop in ebay for £375.00 with 18-55mm lense and can confirm this is a great camera!

Hi Mike
You won't go wrong with the 400D or the Nikon D40x.Check out the size on the 400D first though. It's very small and imo uncomfortable to use because of it.There are also plenty of 30D's going cheap at the minute with the 40D just being released. It might have 2 megapixels less than the 400D but it's a lot better camera. The kit lens that comes with the 400d is also a waste of time-absolutly terrible lens. The kit lens with the D40x is much better. Just remember that it's what you put on the camera thats important not necessarily the camera itself.Virtually all of the current DSLR's will take a good picture.Drop me a pm or give me a ring and I'll tell you everything you want to know bearing in mind that I'm a photographer first, aviation enthusiast second.
Cheers Gary
