Saw a plane heading South about 3 to 4,000ft over Ennerdale Cragg Fell area, about midday, and have no idea what it was, despite having the binoculars It was hard to get a good look at because of the angle of view and range.
It was quite a small plane , prop' driven, sort of military green in colour the wings seemed to be mounted on top of the fuselage, with something mounted above them in the centre . I couldn't tell if this was the engine or something like what a Sentry AWACS has? The elevators were sited about half way up the tail plane. It actually had the look of a Catalina but was far too small.

Good man Chris !! As I say, even through the glasses it was hard to see the detail but that looks like the one. My first thought was that it was a float plane of some sort and I had the impression it was the engine on the top & the size is right.
