Went along to the 1940's weekend on Saturday at Bolton Abbey,,, sadly the turn out was very small compared to previous events there were some really impressive characters to be seen though.. and I did enjoy the day, was very nice of Chris Gurney to let these people have the use of his clothing for the weekend ;D a few images I got 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Chris

Garry its like that in Yorkshire all year round. When I’ve meet up with Chris I could photograph him all day I’ll bet he blended right in there as Mr Kipplin.
Chris, seriously you have done justice to an interesting subject.

Nice photo's. Has anyone been to Pickering before - we are planning to go for Saturday, but was planning to stay in the town only - not going on the train ride...is there enough to keep enterained in the town ?
speaking of Pickering...also going to Rally Yorkshire next Saturday - based in Dalby forest for the day PeteD, York

Pete I have not been to the war weekend but I have been to pickering!!! my good mate is a photographer and he has been the last two years and Loves it
the place gets thousands of visitors on the war weekend and the whole town gets into it with all the shops and streets looking like something from that era and yes you have tons to look at and see for photographs though its very hard work and you can imagine with thousand upon thousands of visitors packed in and Lens with a wide aperture is whats required to blur out some of the distracting stuff that is all around
must add though that Friday is the really BIG day with tanks rolling through the streets I believe that the tanks are static on sat and sunday
but you will obviouisly have to check - as I am only repeating what my mate told me about it I am going to try get there on the friday if I can Less people and more action (I Hope)
anyway thats about as much as I know and most of that is second hand so dont take it as gospel truth cheers Chris
