A couple of friends visited us the other week, met up at Haverthwaite to do the touristy Train & boat to Bowness thing.
As we were having a brew at Haverthwaite the guy pointed out that the last time he had been in that area had been low flying in a Hunter! That is until it ingested a seagull in one of the engines! He managed to nurse it to Warton, thinking most of the way that he might be going for a swim in Morecambe Bay. The aircraft was that badly damaged it never flew again.
Wonder if that is why he ended up flying Vulcans?
