Just wondering what everyones highlights of the year has been? For me it would have to be the Typhoon display at Windermere and the days at Kirkbride and Linton. What are yours....

Hi guys
That's a difficult one with having so many days away at bases and airshows this year. Getting soaked when the jetwash from a B52 bomber decided to dry the runway whilst standing just infront of us was pretty cool-even if I did get drenched. The Pave Low take off at RIAT was also pretty awesome with people checking arms and legs just to make sure the rotor blades hadn't chopped them off. Also of note was my first trip to Lakenheath with what must have been upwards of 30 launches in the space of a couple of hours.A sight and sound never to be forgotten. Also of note were my trips to Manchester Airport. They yielded a lot more enjoyment than I expected. The downside of the year was the lack of low level trips out.Poor weather coinciding with my shift pattern has scuppered a lot of days out.Combining this with dwindling numbers of aircraft using this area has led to a pretty depressing year(make that 2 years).
Still hoping for a couple of day trips away before the end of the year so there might be more highlights to come!
Cheers Gary

Hi Folks I attend 'lots' of Airshows, and must say this has been a pretty poor year to say the least, a big part of that was the bloody weather, it has 'plague'd' me all year
Sunday Riat rain Volkel in Holland Rain in June for the 2nd year running waddington arrived at 7.20am after a 100 mile drive, to be told at 7.40am show has been cancelled Abingdon washed out Breighton at home day cold damp and no flying Grrrr
are you guys seeing a pattern here any way I wont even go into all the days it totally chucked it down when I went low level hunting, and 5 blanks
now the good stuff Breighton in sunshine is as good as it gets for my money, and the July show was bathed in sunshine blue skys - planes 30ft from the ground and within spitting distance of the camera, if there is a better place for aviation photography I have not seen it, and folks the sun is behind you all day
Moving onto Windermere was a highpoint, to actually meet someone in the flesh that is as 'UNFIT' as me was quite something LOL (you Mr Gurney) so the sight of me and him puffing and panting walking up the side of Windermere (I wont say any more) the Typhoon Display over the Lake was extraodinary and was the best viewpoint I could imagine, must remember to take some earmuffs next time... as my ears were nearly bleeding after one pass over our heads with the burner on Duxford is a delight and went 3 times this year - 2 of which were cloudy and overcast Grrrr
really looking forward to a Show actually happening at Walney and will be bitterly dissapointed if the same shambles happens this year like last year (on/off)
and quote of the year for me was from Vickersfour, after we were discussing the days events at the M6 (low level) 1 hawk all day, on a cold rainy day Shaun creased me saying 'Yes... but those lucky buggers in Wales get an Airshow every day in the Loop'
and he was correct any way enough of my twaddle happy new year folks Chris

Windermere had to be the highlight of a pretty average year for me - came away with some pretty decent shots and didn't feel tired at all during the ascent! ;D
Happy New Year, everyone - haven't checked in for a while.... been busy with other things unfortunately.
