That sounds more promising. Read some very pessimistic opinions elsewhere regarding the rest of it's airshow season, hopefully they're wrong.

From the show website...1] Please note there are no viewing points on the west side of Windermere which is part of flying safety zone.

I wonder if that means they will close off access to the Strawberry Gardens area where We launch boats??

Have they been more specific as to the areas (roads) they will likely close off. Remember being awe-struck by the Typhoon from there a couple of years back. Also, any approximations of display times other than the Vulcan?

No , that's all it says on the website, but there's only really the one road you'd want to watch from on that side which runs along the lake shore if you want some photos.
I know a few people who intended to go round there as you have in the past. I wonder if Bowness will be able to cope with ALL the traffic, given the amount who will turn up to see the Vulcan this year & that up to press, the weather forecast is better for Saturday than sunday?

It will be quite hard to stop a few people slipping the net I can imagine. There's a few paths that can lead to that area aswell as the road which you refer to. Just means anyone dedicated to photographing from that side may have to prepare for a little trek. I think it is fair to say that it may help the event organisers gain a little more income as I can remember quite a number of people on the western shore when I was last there getting the free ride, me included. And thanks for that Chris

Went today it was soooooo slow up till about 3.30pm with just the Carlisle JP and the Fournier RF4 displaying until then, no disrespect but they were just too far away, however the P-51D Mustang was just great then the BBMF Spit XIX and Hurricane were good, dead tight in their arrival pass too. The DC-3 was ok some nice turns around the fells, but the Vulcan was bloody great, the sound was awesome, the guys on the mound opposite must of got some great topsides. Nice to bump into Rich and Karl look forward to seeing the pics guys.

The Vulcan was super! All the Todd family went along today and we all had a smile on our faces when the Vulcan arrived! we've waited a while to see one of these flying so it was definately a big high 5 from us.. shame the sun was where it was though, i think most of my piccies will be deleted.

Nice to meet you eventually Chris, I agree totally with your comments about today as did my mate who was struggling to keep his two young lads who are both into their planes, occupied during the lulls up to BBMF. They all thought it was worth it for the Vulcan though !! To be honest I don't think that is an ideal airshow venue. Enjoyed it though!!
The bloke who we met and spent the day with was very interesting, He'd been in a Buccaneer with that guy in South Africa who does flights in old jets like Lightnings etc.
Tally Ho, I have salvaged some photos of the Vulcan which I'm not entirely happy with. The sun seemed to be in that semi back-lit direction which gives you either under-exposed planes or a horrible turquoise/white sky. The light was better when the Jet provost was on.
What about the guest appearance of the private light aircraft while the Mustang display was on !!

The old Mustang pilot made sure he saw him didn't he. similar thing happened when the red arrows were displaying at Elvington a few years back with a couple of gliders then a private plane came overhead & they had to abort the display.
