Anyone fancy running a marathon today? No? oh well around 2000 did and a major rescue operation is now under way. Fingers crossed everyone escapes unharmed but given todays weather what were the organisers doing, simply mad!

Even though they are saying there are all well equipped and trained, nobody can be equipped for last nights conditions...lets just hope everyone gets down safely..

Quite stupid idea to go ahead really when you watch the video.

With that many competitors, in those conditions, & no matter how experienced they think they are, there was always likely to be people getting into difficulty or injured in numbers the rescue services could not cope with. Especially as the helicopters could not fly.
The bloke in the video footage with the inflatable woman fastened to his back looked a likely candidate to be blown off the tops, or maybe, cleverly he was wearing her as a life jacket?

Event organoser had 'no regrets' about keeping the event going. Prize fool. Perhaps he would like to pay for future MRT and RAF callouts. Things could have been a lot worse. And like Rich said, there would be no way the services could cope, even if all helicopters from Prestwick and Boulmer were on scene it would be a struggle. Quite ignorant if you ask me. Well done the the Mountain Rescue in any case
