Hi guys A bit gutted with this one.I was really hoping for an announcement of a 5D successor but no doubt this will sell really well. They have inc. come of the features of the 40D which is a good start.A bit of a shocker dropping the Compact Flash slot though. Just announced in time for PMA 2008. Canon 450D * 12.2 megapixel CMOS sensor * SD/SDHC cards * Larger viewfinder * Live view mode, including contrast-detect AF * Improved 9-point AF system * Spot metering * 3.0" LCD monitor * Redesigned menus (including My Menu as seen in 40D) * Slightly redesigned info display * Continuous shooting at 3.5fps for up to 53 JPEG (6 RAW) * ISO setting displays in viewfinder and ISO button * New, larger, higher capacity battery * 14 bit A/D converter and processing * Multi-shot self-timer mode * Highlight Tone Priority (from 40D) * Auto Lighting Optimiser (boosts shadows after shooting) Oh well, looks like a wait until the end of the year for the new 5D.Unless by some chance Canon have held that one back until tomorrow-here's hoping. Cheers Gary

Gary... a ray of hope for you if your after a 5D mk2 I yesterday bought a photography magazine and they give a big 'hint' that a 5d could be announced at the end of feb - think the mag is photography montly so I guess time will tell... but why would they print that if they were totally clueless about it
cheers chris

Let's hope it's just as good as everyone hopes when it finally arrives.
I'm looking for the speed and functions of the 40D with a 16mp ff sensor.Hopefully noise compareable to the new Nikon D3. Saying that,I'm very impressed with the 40D so might just plump for some more glass anyway.
Cheers Gary
