With regard to buying spare/replacement batteries for a Canon EOS-400D.
The supplied battery is 720mAh, are the cheap ones on Ebay from Hong Kong any good? Some of these are 800 or 1300mAh, which will presumably last longer.
The charger supplied with the camera is a CB-2LWE, will this charge higher capacity batteries OK?
There is also a CB-2LW charger listed in the back of the manual which seems identical spec' apart from the weight. Does anyone know what the "E" denotes on the end of the first one?

Hi Rich I always carry 10 batteries around with me and 6 of them are from Hong Kong.I always use them in the cameras and have never had any problems.I have them in various capacities from 1300 mAh upto 1800 mAh and the Canon charger has always worked fine with them. I keep all my proper Canon batteries as backups. Most of these batteries are only good for between 300 and 1000 charges so thats why I keep the Canon ones for good. No idea on the different codes on the chargers.E-European W-Worldwide? ?? Cheers Gary

Thanks , for that Gary.
Not long had the camera, & am just getting a few bits & pieces, & the batteries on Ebay seem to be cheaper for a pack of 2 than one standard battery in the shops.
You could be right about the E & W. maybe to do with different regulations in Europe or something. Was just curious?
