Same date period as East Fortune? Will this see the Chinook drop into the airport?

Just found this on their web site Latest Airshow News Vulcan Bomber XH558 over Windermere! Breaking News…. We are excited to announce that the Avro Vulcan Bomber XH558 - the only Vulcan still flying - will be taking part in this year’s Windermere Airshow. Thanks for this must go to Ken Burchill of the Hydro Hotel, Bowness who has generously provided the funds to allow the XH558 to come to Windermere. More news on this will be posted as it becomes available.

No worrys Chris... its not too bad, its Thirlmere that does me in, I remember the other year at Windermere when Alan W walked back down to the car only to discover he had left his scanner back up at his perch overlooking the Lake I remember thinking Glad its not me LOL cheers Chris

Hi All Any advice on viewing locations please ? I remember seeing on the web some great photo's of a chinook, but cannot now find them. We'll be travelling down from Keswick for Saturday only, so flexible for either Bowness or the Western Shore, but trying to decide which could be best for us. Photography not the priority - clear view & being close to the flying is the main interest - esp. XH558 & SAR demo. I've read about Low Pate Crag...could we park on the road on the western side of the lake & then walk upto Pate Crag ? Alternatively, what are the activities on the ground around the Glebe ? Is Gummers How a valid viewing point, or would only be good for run-in's ?
Thanks for any help. PeteD, York

P-51D Mustang 'Jumpin Jacques' added to flying Saturday only. As for viewing locations i can't really help as i was following Graeme aka member Cherskiy. If you drop him a PM he will probably be able to tell you exactly how to get there. Looks like i'm not climbing that hill this year, got friends and family in tow so will have to do the Bowness side.

I think it's panning out like this... Saturday - Vulcan, Chinook, Hawk, BBMF, P-51D, Jet Provost, Yakovlevz.
Sunday - Reds, Chinook, Hawk, BBMF, JP, Yakovlevz, Team Guinot, Swift Team.
Hopefully thats right, who knows maybe a couple of late additions.

What do you think the chances are of the Vulcan making it to either Windermere or Whitehaven after the carry on at waddington?

When the incident happened i mentioned it to Gerard Richardson who runs the Festival and as far as he has been told it's a problem that will sort itself out in a few days, not weeks so it's full steam ahead and she is still expected to take part on Sunday 9th August.
